ABOUT US
THE COMPANY:
Graphic designer Geoff Weiser and former retail buyer, Suji Meswani, are the co-owners of Skeem Candles. Prior to launching the Skeem brand in 2004, this Philadelphia based husband and wife team, did more than a year of research and development to perfect the wax formulation, develop the scents and colors and, of course, create the candles themselves. The name “Skeem”? Well, it is a play on words and the company is named after the couple’s “scheme” to break free from the corporate world. The rich, colorful designs and unique long-lasting scents are inspired by their vast travels which include three to four annual trips to exotic locales such as, India, Costa Rica, and Thailand.
OUR PHILOSOPHY:
We've never understood the plain-ivory-candle-in-the-fancy-box thing. Isn't it a bit of a let down when you open it up, and the box, which is the nicest part, is just trash? We’ve thoughtfully designed all our products so they are beautiful and intriguing on their own, without any excess packaging. Our candles are silk-screened, then poured with our custom soy/paraffin wax blend to ensure a clean, even burn. Once the wax has burned down, our pillars are reusable as drinking glasses. We also encourage you to reuse our 3-wick and Half Pint containers for things like holding cotton balls, storing paper clips, or even as a sugar jar. In addition to making beautiful, long-lasting products, we’re proud to manufacture candles that can be reused and recycled. It is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness.
OUR CANDLES:
Our candles are are made in the USA. The glasses are silk-screened, and each candle is topped with a printed metal lid. Our wax is a soy blend and our wicks are cotton.
SHIPPING DETAILS:
Orders ship via UPS Ground from Philadelphia and will be received within 5-7 business days from the time we receive your order. A tracking number will be sent to you once the order has shipped. 6% sales tax will be applied to orders within PA. At this time we are unable to ship orders outside the US.
BURNING INSTRUCTIONS:
Please respect the presence of fire while using your candles. To ensure the candle does not get too hot and to minimize soot and smoke, please keep your wick trimmed to 1/4”. Never burn a candle for more than 3 hours at a time and be aware that outside factors, such as drafts, fans, heat, and cold can affect the way a candle burns. Always use caution while burning your candle, keep away from children and pets, and never leave a burning candle unattended.
WAX REMOVAL:
To remove the last bit of remaining wax left in the glass, place glass in freezer overnight. Gently bang glass upside down to pop out wax. Please thoroughly clean your glass before using it as a drinking glass.
RETURN POLICY:

Our orders are all carefully packed and inspected. Should you receive a damaged item during shipping, please contact us within 7 days of receipt via e-mail info@skeemdesign.com for a replacement. Due to the nature of our products, no refunds, returns or replacements will be issued other than for damage during shipping.
PRIVACY:
Please be assured Skeem does not sell or disclose your personal information to any outside party. Occasionally we send out special e-mail notices regarding sales, new items, etc, If you do not wish to receive these notices, just let us know and we’ll be happy to remove you from our database.
